Dr. Dalton E. Brannen, SPHR, GPHR

Dr. Dalton E. Brannen, SPHR, GPHR is a Professor of Management in the Hull College of Business at Georgia Regents University-Summerville campus. He is also a Human Resource Consultant, Mediator, and Arbitrator. In addition, he has served in a variety of academic positions including Dean, Department Chair, and Graduate Program Director at several universities. His industrial experience includes engineering positions for the Department of Transportation and Westinghouse. Dr. Brannen has served on the HCCU Board since 1996.

David Brond, MBA, MHA

David Brond, MBA, MHA, was appointed Senior Vice President for Communications and Marketing at Georgia Regents University in August 2012.

Before joining GRU David was Vice President for Communications and Marketing at the University of Delaware. Previously he served as Vice President of Marketing and Planning at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore. David’s prior work experience also includes strategic marketing and management roles in a variety of organizations including GBMC Healthcare, GE, Ernst & Young, KPMG Peat Marwick and The Levin Group.

David holds a BA degree in Economics and Geography from Bucknell University and an Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Health Administration from Duke University. David is a member of the American Marketing Association and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Augusta Sports Council.

Gwen Florence

Gwen Florence retired from GRU (formerly Medical College of Georgia) after 27 years of dedicated service in the Curriculum Office for the School of Medicine working closely with the medical students on a daily basis. She has successfully served in several capacities on the Board including Credit Committee Chair and Board Chair. She has served on the HCCU Board since 1982.

Tad A. Gomez, RPh, MS

Tad Gomez, is the Administrative Director of Pharmacy, Rehabilitation and Respiratory Care Services at Georgia Regents Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Tad holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas and a Masters degree in Hospital Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University.

Tad is past Chairman of the Board and is on the Executive Committee. He also serves on the Asset Liability Management, Personnel, Marketing, and Information Technology Committees at Health Center Credit union. He has served on the HCCU board since 2004.

Rob Graybill

After serving as President of Health Center Credit Union for 13 years, Rob retired in 2000. Prior to his credit union career, Rob worked for Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust Company, now Wachovia, and held several managerial positions, including Assistant Vice President. His responsibilities ranged from consumer loan officer to loan operations and trust operations manager. In 1987, Rob served as Vice President of construction lending at Centerbank Mortgage Company. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina.

He is actively involved in the following community organizations: GHS Health System Retirees Association (formerly MCG Retirees Association), and Grace United Methodist Church. Rob was also formerly on the Georgia Credit Union League Board. He has served on the board of HCCU since 1989.

Philip Howard

Philip Howard, MSB, was promoted to Vice President for Facilities Services for Georgia Regents Enterprise after serving as Vice President of Facilities for Georgia Health Sciences University Medical Center since March 2010.

Before joining GRU, Howard was Vice President of Campus Services at LifeBridge Health in Baltimore. Previously, he served as Director of Facilities Management and Construction at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.; as Director for Facilities at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore; and as a Project Manager at Kroll Construction in Owings Mill, MD. Howard has also served in various capacities in facilities management at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. Howard has over 34 years experience in construction project management and facilities management in both Academic/Research and Healthcare domains.

He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and a Master of Science degree in Business Management from Johns Hopkins University.

He is a member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineers, the American College of Healthcare Executives, APPA: The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers, and the University of Maryland Alumni Association. Howard is also an alumnus of Leadership Baltimore County.

Peggy Lovelace

Peggy Lovelace is a retired Georgia Regents Medical Center (formerly MCG) Operating Room Nurse Manager, where she worked for twenty-three years. She was a real estate broker and until recently was a registered appraiser. Ms. Lovelace has served on the HCCU Board since 1984 and has been an active member of numerous committees including Chairman of the Board.

Connie Martin, SPHR

Connie Martin, SPHR, is the former Administrative Director of Human Resources at Trinity Hospital. She also worked at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital (now Children's Healthcare of Atlanta) in Atlanta as Director of Human Resources. Connie served on the HCCU Board for several years in the early 1990's and returned to the Board in the summer of 2000.

She also serves on the Advisory Board for the LPN Program at Augusta Technical College. Connie is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and is active in the local SHRM Chapter as well as the founding member of the Augusta-Aiken SHRM Chapter. She volunteers for St. Joseph Hospice, LLC.

Connie has also been an active Board Member of the YWCA, CSRA Society for Human Resource Management, CSRA Association of Healthcare Executives, and ASTD Augusta Chapter. She has served on numerous committees such as, fund-raising for the Georgia-Carolina Children's Inn (now Ronald McDonald House), Mayor's Committee on Employment of Persons with Disabilities and Executive Committee of the Boy Scouts Georgia-Carolina Council (Explorer Officers' Advisor)."

Charles Sanford

Charles Sanford retired from GRUHS Information Services Division with more than 30 years of service. He came to Georgia Regents Health System (formerly MCG) after graduating from Augusta College in 1972 with Bachelor's of Science in Physics and a minor in Mathematics.

Charles has served on the board in various capacities since 1986, including Chairman of the Board, Vice Chairman of the Board, and Chair of the Credit and Information Technology Committees.

Mike Wren

Mike Wren retired from Georgia Regents Health System, (formerly Medical College of Georgia) as Assistant Comptroller. He has served on the HCCU Board since 1980.

Tony Wright

Tony is Executive Director of Human Resources for the Columbia County School System since 2007. Wright served as Assistant Director of Human Resources for the school system from 2002 to 2007.

Prior to coming to the Columbia County School System, Tony held different positions from Director of Human Resources to Department Chair to Program Director at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. His last military assignment was as a Professor Military Science at Hampton University. He also served as Chief of Staff, Readiness Command, in Columbia, South Carolina. After a highly successful career with the United States Army, Tony retired in 2000 as Lieutenant Colonel.

Tony formerly served as President of the Georgia Association of Public School Administrators as well as the organization's program chairperson. He also serves with the following organizations: member of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Recruiting Task Force and Simplifying Certification Process. He also recently served as Chairperson of the West Acres Baptist church Personnel Committee. Tony has been on the HCCU Board since 2007."
